“I am really happy we made the decision to enroll my son in the YMCA’s EEC program. The Y staff is so welcoming, which helped our son make a smooth transition along with the support of his ABA therapist from The Uncommon Thread. Although he has experienced separation anxiety in the past, we haven’t seen that with his transition to the YMCA.
Following our son’s autism diagnosis, I was nervous about his care, education, therapy, and personal growth. As parents, I think we all want the best for our children. The Y’s partnership with The Uncommon Thread brings me peace of mind. He is benefiting from being in a mainstream classroom with the safety net of having support from an ABA therapist when he needs it.
Through this program, our son is growing more comfortable interacting with his peers in a social and educational setting. He is engaging in interactive play rather than parallel play, and the other children inspire him to try new things. It’s a great model and we’ve seen the impact in our son’s interactions at home and in social settings.
The YMCA’s partnership with The Uncommon Thread has changed my understanding of the Y and its mission. I love that the Y offers an inclusive environment for individuals with special needs, and I am excited to explore more opportunities for my children at the YMCA.” – Mom

I have had the pleasure of working for The Uncommon Thread for 2.5 years now, and I can confidently say that it is one of the most rewarding experiences of my professional life.
The company’s commitment to improving the lives of individuals with autism is truly inspiring. TUT also places a high value on professional development and growth. There are ample opportunities for continuing education, training, and career advancement. This has allowed me to grow personally and professionally, and I am part of a team that truly cares about my success. It’s clear that the company values its employees and is dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of its clients. I highly recommend this company to anyone looking to make a difference in the lives of others. ~ ABA Therapist

“I just want to say how much we appreciate all that TUT has given us. This year, working with BCBA Dana and ABA Therapist Leia has been a pleasure. We’ve seen our daughter grow and thrive, especially at summer camp at the YMCA, where she knows all her counselors by name. When I asked her about her therapist, Leia, she said, “She’s not a counselor; she’s my best friend!” This experience has been truly beneficial for our entire family. Dana has been incredibly supportive, equipping our daughter with the tools she needs to grow, learn, and gain confidence. We appreciate everything more than words can say. All the guidance and support TUT has provided over the past three years is more than we expected. While I’m nervous about leaving the “bubble” of TUT, I feel that we are, hopefully, ready for kindergarten and public school.”
Mom
Tomorrow marks our last day with our first TUT ABA Therapist and to say that we are going to miss her would be an understatement.
Navigating an Autism diagnosis and all the trials and tribulations that come along with it can be difficult, to say the least. Being blessed with a therapist who is not only knowledgeable about the process but who also has an instant connection with your child is more than we could have hoped for. The transition from 1 -2 hours of therapy per week to 25 hours+ was seamless. Our therapist blended into our family and our routines as if she had always been there. We owe so much of our son’s progress to her hard work and dedication to the job. Though we may be losing her as a therapist, we truly feel like we have gained a new member to our family. Her next kiddo is going to be one lucky little boy or girl.
We’ve already had such positive feedback from our staff after today’s lunch and learn.
Some of them had to leave early due to other sessions/meetings, but they all reached out to me and said they wished they could’ve stayed longer. Some of the therapists took such extensive notes, as they truly found today’s presentation so beneficial. Thank you and your team so very much. We’re happy to have this connection and referral source!
